Temecula Silver 5 BV 3 (L)

Temecula scored two runs in the second and three in the third and then withstood a last inning rally by BV to win 5-3. Tori Roel slashed a two-run triple and Kiara Edwards lined a single up the middle to bring home the third run in BV’s last-ditch rally in the bottom of the fourth. Jaz Hallare, Ivanna Lopez, Cori Baragan, Brianna Gregory and Jenna Ogo also had hits for BV. Kacie Morton played an excellent game at second base for BV, recording two assists and four putouts.

BV 6 Rancho Bernardo Silver 6 (T)

BV jumped out to an early lead by scoring six runs in the first inning, but Rancho Bernardo scored two runs in each of the first three innings to earn a 6-6 tie. Erica Forget hit a two-run home run, her third of the all-star season, in the first inning and Tori Roel also knocked in two first-inning runs with a double. Jaz Hallare also singled in a run for BV. Kacie Morton continued her rock-solid play at second base for BV, recording two assists and two putouts. Jenna Ogo came on in relief in the third inning and retired the four batters she faced to shut down Rancho Bernardo and preserve the tie.

Escondido Elite (Silver) 10 BV 9 (L)

Escondido pushed across a run in the bottom of the fourth to edge BV 10-9 after BV had rallied with four runs in the top of the inning to tie the game at 9-9 on a titanic (no exaggeration) three-run home-run by Erika Forget and a clutch, two-out, pinch-hit single and run batted in by Brianna Gregory. Forget knocked in four runs overall and her homerun was her fourth of the season. Ivanna Lopez and Jaz Hallare each had two hits, with Lopez knocking in two runs with a triple and Hallare one with a single.

Laguna Niguel Silver 9 BV 5 (ITB)

Laguna Niguel struck for four runs in ITB to defeat a determined BV squad 9-5. Laguna Niguel had scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game and push it to ITB. Erika Forget hit her fifth homerun of the season, her third in the last three games, and knocked in two runs, her 34th and 35th of the all-star season, in the second inning. Tori Roel, Kiara Edwards, Kacie Morton and Ivanna Lopez each had base hits for BV.

Santee scored six in the first and eight in the second to trounce BV 15-4. Erika Forget and Ivanna Lopez each smashed triples and Tori Roel singled for BV. Forget’s triple was her fifth of the year.

Game Two - BV 17 Imperial 0 (W)

Cassie Bolin threw a one-hit shutout and struck out five to lead BV past Imperial. Erika Forget continued her torrid hitting with two hits, including a double, four runs batted in and three runs scored, and Ivanna Lopez smashed her third triple of the season, scored three times and stole two bases. Al Aquino and Brianna Gregory each had a base hit and two runs batted in and Alyssa Gonzalez had a base hit, a run batted in, three runs scored and two stolen bases for BV.

Game Three (Pool Play) - WAGS Bronze 4 BV 3 (L)

WAGS scored the go-ahead run in the top of the fifth and then held off a BV rally in the bottom of the inning to edge BV 4-3 in a hard-fought game. Al Aquino pitched an excellent game for BV, allowing only one earned run on six hits and striking out three in five innings of work. Kiara Edwards had two hits, a run scored and two stolen bases and Erika Forget knocked in a run with a long double to center for BV.

Game Four - BV 12U Silver 8 BV 12U Bronze 4 (L)

BV Silver scored all of its eight runs in the second inning and withstood a BV Bronze rally in the bottom of the third to beat the Bronze 8-4. Jaz Hallare doubled in two runs and Erika Forget singled in another for BV Bronze.


UC Del Sol (Pool Play) - Thursday, June 21 Recap Provided by Brian Cox

Game One - BV 13 La Jolla 1 (W)

Al Aquino pitched four innings of four-hit, one-run ball and struck out two to lead BV past La Jolla. Cassie Bolin and Kiara Edwards lead the offensive charge with two hits each; Bolin had a triple and three runs-batted-in and Edwards had a double and and two runs-batted-in and has now hit in eight of her last nine games. Natalie Cox knocked in two runs with a single and Jaz Hallare had a booming double for BV. Tori Roel continued her excellent defensive play at shortstop with four put-outs on line drives, including a nice shortstop to second base double play to close the La Jolla fourth. Roel was voted player of the game by her La Jolla opponents.

Game Two (Saturday) - Hacienda Heights 8 BV 4 (L)

Hacienda Heights scored three in the first and two more in the second to jump off to an early 5-0 lead and beat BV 8-4. Cassie Bolin, Kiara Edwards and Alyssa Gonzalez had base hits and Edwards scored twice for BV. Jenna Ogo pitched well in relief for BV.

Game Three (Saturday) - BV 11 San Dieguito 0 (W)

BV erupted for ten runs in the third inning to back Al Aquino’s no-hit, no-run pitching and coasted past San Dieguito 11-0. Erika Forget went two for two with a single and a line shot, three-run homerun, her second home-run and eighth extra-base hit of the year, in the ten-run third inning. Cassie Bolin also had two hits and a run batted in, while Brianna Gregory and Kacie Morton each had a base-hit and two runs batted in for BV. Morton also played an excellent game at second base with three assists in the final ending, the last one coming with the bases loaded to preserve Aquino’s shutout.

Game Four - BV 16 Peninsula 4 (W)

Al Aquino and Jenna Ogo combined on a four-hitter as BV trounced Peninsula. Cassie Bolin, with a double and two runs batted in, and Kiara Edwards each had two hits and Natalie Cox and Erika Forget each scored three runs for BV.

Game Five - BV 2 Alpine Gold 0 (W)

Al Aquino threw a five-hit shutout and recorded four assists and three put-outs from the mound to lead BV to a well-played victory over Alpine Gold. Erika Forget knocked in the winning runs with a two-out single in the top of the fifth.

Game Six - Ramona Gold 10 BV 1 (L)

In their third consecutive game of the day, BV played a tough Ramona Gold team even through four innings behind Al Aquino, but eventually fell 10-1 as the consecutive games took their toll. Erika Forget knocked in the lone BV run in the first with a hard-shot single up the middle. Ivanna Lopez and Tori Roel each added a base-hit for BV, with Roel’s hit being a double. Despite the semi-final loss, BV finished 4-2 on the tournament, with Aquino the winning pitcher in all four victories.

Game One - Carlsbad Gold 12 BV 4 (L)

Carlsbad Gold pushed across six runs in the third and five more in the fourth to defeat BV. Cori Barragan, Cassie Bolin and Kiara Edwards each singled for BV. Bolin knocked in two runs and Edward’s stretching her hitting streak to six games. Natalie Cox walked and scored twice and stole a base for BV.

Game Two - BV 20 Imperial 0 (W)

BV amassed 13 hits in scoring its 20 runs, and shut down Imperial behind the one-hit pitching of Victoria Lopez and Jenna Ogo. Erika Forget went two for two with a single and a titanic home run to left field in BV’s nine run first inning, and finished with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Forget leads the team on the year with seven extra-base hits (three doubles, three triples and a home run) and 13 runs batted in. Cassie Bolin doubled and scored twice and knocked in three runs and Jaz Hallare singled twice, knocked in two runs, scored one and stole a base. Al Aquino reached base three times with a single and two bases on balls, scored three runs, knocked in another and stole three bases. Kiara Edwards pushed her hitting streak to seven games with a second-inning single.

Game Three - Yucaipa Gold 6 BV 1 (L)

Yucaipa scored six times in the first inning to defeat BV. Kacie Morton and Jaz Hallare each had singles and Cassie Bolin pitched three innings of two-hit, no-run relief for BV. Erika Forget led off the second inning with a triple, her fourth, and eigth extra base hit of the year, and scored on Hallare’s single for the lone BV run. Ivanna Lopez made several outstanding plays at first base fro BV.

Game One - BV 10 Clairemont 2 (W)

BV scored four runs in the first and six more in the third to trounce Clairemont. Natalie Cox, Jaz Hallare and Erika Forget each had two hits and Cox knocked in three runs for BV. Tori Roel played an excellent game at shortstop with four assists. Cassie Bolin shut down Clairemont on four hits, with only one of the two runs given up being earned.

Game Two - French Valley Gold 8 BV 7 (L)

French Valley struck for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to stun BV. Natalie Cox, Kacie Morton and Tori Roel each went two for three, with Cox scoring two runs and Morton scoring one and knocking in another and Roel had a double and two runs batted in for BV.

Game Three - Imperial Beach Gold 4 BV 3 (L)

BV’s two-run rally in the bottom of the sixth fell one run short when IB executed a perfect third to first to home double play to end the well-played, hard-fought game. Victoria Lopez and Jaz Hallare each had a double and a run batted in for BV. Tori Roel had four assists and two put-outs at shortstop for BV.

Alyssa Gonzales’s walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the fifth won it for BV. Erika Forget went four for four with a double, triple and five RBI and Kacie Morton went three for four with a double, three runs scored and two RBI for BV.

Tierra Canyon 2 BV 1 (L) (ITB in semi-finals)

Tierra Canyon pushed across one run in the bottom of the sixth (ITB) to edge BV 2-1. Al Aquino pitched 4 2/3 of four-hit, one-run ball before having to leave the game after being hit in the pitching hand by a line drive. Alyssa Gonzalez and Jazlyn Harrare each went two for three and Kiara Edwards knocked in the lone BV run with a hard single to left in the top of the fourth.

Game 1 - Orange-Villa Park Silver 6 BV 12U Bronze 3

BV jumped off to a 3-0 lead by scoring two runs in the first on a two-run single by Erika Forget and a RBI single by Kacie Morton in the second, but couldn’t hold on as Orange-Villa Park scored four in the third and two more in the fourth. Brianna Gregory and Jazlyn Harrare also had base-hits for BV and Harrare had three putouts in center field.

Game 2 - Irvine Silver 7 BV 12U Bronze 1

After BV tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third, Irvine pushed across six runs in the bottom of the third for a 7-1 victory. Jazlyn Harrare singled and scored the lone BV run.

Game 3 - BV 12U Bronze 11 Rancho Trabuco Silver 1

BV pounded out 13 hits and won by the mercy rule after four innings. Big Al Aquino and Natalie Cox each had two hits and Aquino, Alyssa Gonzalez and Ivanna Lopez each scored twice for BV. Cassie Bolin, Cori Barragan and Victoria Lopez each knocked in two runs while Erika Forget hit a double for BV. Victoria Lopez got the win, allowing only one run on four hits while striking out four.

Game 4 - San Clemente Gold 8 BV 12U Bronze 2

In the semi-finals, BV fell to a strong San Clemente Gold Team, which outscored its opponents by a combined score of 38-7 in winning four straight going into the tournament’s championship game. Alyssa Gonzalez, Kacie Morton, Cassie Bolin and Erika Forget had hits for BV, with Forget’s double in the fifth inning knocking in the two BV runs.
