UC San Diego Softball Kids Camp June 27-28

UCSD is having a Softball Kids Camp for ages 9-14 on June 27th & 28th.

Here's the information for the kids camp featuring the Triton Coaching Staff at UCSD Stadium on June 27th & 28th.

Day 1 Options:
When: June 27th, 2016
Session1: Beginning Pitching and Catching, 9am-12pm
Session 2: Beginning Offense, 1:00-4:00pm
Cost: $100 for 1 session and $185 for both sessions.

Day 2 Options:
When: June 28, 2016
Session 1: Beginning Defense, 9am-12pm
Session 2: Beginning Offense, 1:00-4:00 pm
Cost: $100 for 1 session and $185 for both sessions

*** Every camper gets a t-shirt. Also, lunch is provided to campers that attend both sessions on the same day.

Closing Ceremonies Saturday May 7th 10:00AM

Bonita Valley Girls ASA will be celebrating the end of an excellent Recreation Season this Saturday, May 7 at Discovery Park starting at 10:00AM. We expect to have all teams here, in their jerseys, showing off their colors! There will be music, vendors, guest speakers, player awards, medals, trophies, and lots more!

Managers or Team Moms can pick up trophies and team medals during closing ceremonies from 9am - noon.

It may be the end of the season but there is a lot to celebrate! Make this event a priority and come on out for the fun! You will want to arrive early as parking will be a challenge. Carpool if you can and arrive early!

Also, we will be holding the Bonita Valley Girls ASA 2017 Board Member Elections so please be sure to cast your vote!

Bill Mendoza will be grilling carne asada to raise funds for Bonita Valley Softball, so come hungry and ready to eat.

Rained Out Games Rescheduled

The games that were rained out on 3/12/16 will be made up on Sunday, 4/17/16 at the same times and fields. Individual team schedules and the master schedule have been updated. The games that were cancelled on 4/9/16 will not be made up.

Kona Ice Fundraiser

This Saturday April 16th from 9AM to 2PM, Kona Ice will be selling shaved ice at Discovery Park parking lot (behind the bathroom building). BVGASA gets 25% from sales, come out and support!

Attention 2016 San Diego Padres Softball Night Participants:

Here is all of the information that you and your teams need to know about our pre game parade on Saturday, April 16th.

Who Can Participate: Only softball players and coaches will be able to participate in the parade. Those not eligible who try to participate will be asked to watch the parade from the seating bowl. Each team will be allowed two coaches. Coaches will be responsible for their team throughout the parade and until their teams are in their seats or paired back up with their parents. Due to the large number of attendees expected, we cannot include parents (other than coaches) in the parade.

Parade Starting Location: 7th Avenue between K Street and L Street. Participants will be staged outside the Western Metal Building and Padres representatives will be on hand for directions. Participants will stage on 7th Avenue southbound towards Tony Gwynn Drive. Please follow all traffic directions and cross the streets in designated crosswalks. 7th Avenue remains an active thoroughfare for vehicular traffic.

Parade Start Time: 4:30 p.m. Teams and coaches can start lining up beginning at 3:30 p.m. Participants must be in line no later than 4:15 p.m. in order to participate in the parade.

What To Wear: All participants (including coaches) should attend the parade dressed in their uniform and tennis shoes. (No cleats will be allowed on the warning track.) Only full uniformed personnel will be allowed to participate in the Parade.

League/Team Banners: Team and/or League banners can be presented during the parade. Banners cannot contain any corporate or sponsor logos and must be able to be folded away during the game. Poles to hold up the banner will not be allowed.

Parade Route: The parade will start through the Western Metal Building breezeway entering the playing field at the Left Field foul pole. The parade will make its way down the Left Field Line, around home plate, up the Right Field line, exiting the playing field at the Right field foul pole. Participants will proceed up the East Ramp of Petco Park and exit the building through the Park Boulevard Gates at the near the corner of 10th Avenue and Park Boulevard. Participants must remain on the warning track at all times and will not be allowed onto the grass. In order to get the large number of participants through the parade route in a timely manner, the Padres ask that coaches keep their team moving at all times. No pictures will be allowed to be taken during the parade.

Please Note: Each parade participant should be in possession of their game ticket. Although tickets will not be scanned prior to taking part in the parade, they will be required to have a game ticket to participate. The parade will end outside the gates of Petco Park (Park Boulevard Gate). Once outside, the participants may enter any gate with a non-scanned ticket. Coaches should be prepared to stay with their team and escort them to their seats or back to their parents after the parade.

Join us April 4th through April 10th for a Jersey Mike's Subs fundraiser to support Bonita Valley Girls Softball. Present the coupons on this flyer at either Jersey Mike's Subs location in Eastlake Village or Otay Ranch Town Center. For each coupon redeemed at those locations during April 4th through April 10th, Jersey Mike's Subs will donate $3 to Bonita Valley Girls Softball.

Golf Tournament Fundraiser

On Friday, March 18th the 2016 Bonita Valley Golf Tournament Fundraiser will take place. Right after the golf tournament we will have an 80's theme dinner banquet with DJ for more fun. Don't forget to take advantage of our early bird registration price before February 27th. If you can't make the golf tournament, come for the dinner banquet for just $10. 2016 Text Alert Sign Ups are Available

The Text Alert function for in-season Field Condition changes has been activated. If you would like to receive a text message to your cell phone for Field Conditions as they change during the season, use the link on the right column to sign up. All numbers that had been put into this alert system for previous seasons have been cleared out so even if you were using this service in the past, you will have to sign up again for the 2016 season.

League Volunteers

BVGASA is a non-profit organization that survives on the volunteer time and dedication of its members, specifically the parents and businesses of the community. Again this year we will need volunteers for Team Managers, Coaches, Team Mom's, Parent Helpers, etc. (anyone who interacts with the players). If you have the desire to be a part of this season's effort in one of these capacities, you will need a new ASA background check completed as this is an ASA annual requirement. If you get it started now you will be cleared prior to the beginning of the season.

Bring a copy of this completed volunteer form and a $10.00 processing fee (if you did not pay during the on-line registration) to any of the on-site registration dates. This completed process will allow you to join in on league on-field activities like the game and practice fields. Without this, adults are not allowed on any of the fields during league activity times. This is an ASA annual requirement so once you get this done, you can use it without renewing throughout the year, no matter what league you are involved with. Just click on the "Log In" link on the upper right hand corner of this page then click on the "Register to Volunteer" link to get the process started.

2016 Picture Day Schedule

The 2016 Picture Day Schedule has been posted. Reminder that picture day is scheduled for Saturday, March 5th. Check the schedule to see when your team will have pictures taken. How do team pictures usually work? Well, the player will receive a 'League Package' that is paid for from the registration funds. In addition, parents of the player will have the opportunity to purchase any possible package or combination offered by the photographers. A make-up day could also be scheduled and is another reason picture day is early in the season.

What does BVGASA stand for?

The acronym stands for Bonita Valley Girls Amateur Softball Association. It is the name of our league. We are a non-profit organization. Our purpose is to provide an organized, recreational and advanced softball program for the children of our community that is an enjoyable and memorable time of their lives. It is our intent to ensure that they develop the skills of the game, good sportsmanship, and qualities of citizenship and leadership through the game of softball.

When do we Post the Game Scores and Standings?

Posting of the game results is a priority at BVGASA. Sometimes however, there may be a delay caused by any number of reasons from someone forgetting to send it in to technical issues with the web site. If you know an official score and it is not posted within a reasonable time or is posted wrong, simply email the teams involved and the scores to scores@bvgasa.org and we will correct the issue.

Scores and Standings

Games scores and team standings are kept for the Upper age Divisions of Majors, Minors and Mini-Minors. The recreation season standings page are current based on the scores reported to date. Reminder to managers to send in the final score after the game, including the number of outs pitched by every pitcher (both teams) in the game to scores@bvgasa.org.

Game Schedule Changes

We have made several changes to game schedules this afternoon. The majority was moving the late games from April 16th to April 18th so that there was no conflict with Softball Day with the San Diego Padres. Make sure to check your schedules for any changes. Lets have some fun and play softball!

The Master Game Schedule for the 2016 season has been posted. To view it, go up to the top menu and go to Recreation League > In Season > Rec Master Schedule. The individual team schedules are not up yet, but anticipating those will be done by Wednesday night.

Opening Day and First Games

Opening Ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday February 13, 2016 at 9:00am. They are being held at Discovery Fields in front of the Snack Bar. All 650+ players are expected and they will be in their new uniforms. Also attending will be a number representatives from the San Diego Padres!

Remember to come early or you will definitely be late! The parking lot and street parking will be full, so plan to come as early as possible to find parking.

This same day, February 13 is when the first games of the season are played. Once the opening ceremony completes, there will be games played all day.

2016 Text Alert Sign Ups are Available

The Text Alert function for in-season Field Condition changes has been activated. If you would like to receive a text message to your cell phone for Field Conditions as they change during the season, use the link on the right column to sign up. All numbers that had been put into this alert system for previous seasons have been cleared out so even if you were using this service in the past, you will have to sign up again for the 2016 season.

League Volunteers

BVGASA is a non-profit organization that survives on the volunteer time and dedication of its members, specifically the parents and businesses of the community. Again this year we will need volunteers for Team Managers, Coaches, Team Mom's, Parent Helpers, etc. (anyone who interacts with the players). If you have the desire to be a part of this season's effort in one of these capacities, you will need a new ASA background check completed as this is an ASA annual requirement. If you get it started now you will be cleared prior to the beginning of the season.

Bring a copy of this completed volunteer form and a $10.00 processing fee (if you did not pay during the on-line registration) to any of the on-site registration dates. This completed process will allow you to join in on league on-field activities like the game and practice fields. Without this, adults are not allowed on any of the fields during league activity times. This is an ASA annual requirement so once you get this done, you can use it without renewing throughout the year, no matter what league you are involved with. Just click on the "Log In" link on the upper right hand corner of this page then click on the "Register to Volunteer" link to get the process started.

Old Equipment
We all need help now and then. Bring old softball equipment and gear to Discovery Park on both assesment dates (1/16/16 and 1/23/16) and donate to help someone that could use it. If your daughter is looking for softball equipment or gear stop on by.

Laser Tag Fundraiser Tickets

Registration for the 2016 Bonita Valley Girls Softball Recreation season will begin November 16, 2015. All registrations must be completed on-line. You have the option to pay your fees on-line as you register or at one of the on-site events (just select cash/check as your payment option when you register).

The second part of the registration process is to bring one copy of your completed registration form, a copy of your payment confirmation e-mail (if you paid on-line), and the birth certificate of your player(s) to an on-site event for verification. The birth certificate will be returned to you immediately.

Division Age Groups

T-Ball (6U): Ages 4 - 6 years
Super 6'ers**: Age 6
Rookies (8U): Ages 7 - 8 years
Mini-Minors (10U): Ages 9 - 10 years
Minors (12U): Ages 11 - 12 years
Majors (14U): Ages 13 - 14 years
**Super 6'ers are for 6 year olds that are looking for a more challenging game. It is T-Ball but some of the rules will be similar to the Rookie Division. For example, taking away the Tee for hitting during the games.

The date used to determine age eligibility is December 31, 2015.

On-Site Registration Dates

After registering on-line, you must complete the registration process by attending an on-site registration event. Please bring one copy of your registration form, a copy of your payment confirmation e-mail (if paid on-line) and birth certificate of your player(s).

All fees are due when you attend an on-site registration event if you did not pay them when you registered on-line. Here are the dates and locations for the on-site registration events:

Registration Fees

All paperwork and fees not yet paid must be completed and submitted by January 23 (Updated) to ensure your player is registered to play this season. First Child - $135.00
Second Child - $110.00
T-Ball and Super 6'ers - $85.00
Third or More Child** - Free
**Third child is defined as a member of the immediate family only.

Early Bird Discount

This year we will take $20 off the total registration fees if they are paid before December 9th.

Skill Assessments

When attending a Skills Assessment we strongly recommend bringing a glove, cleats, bat, helmet and a protective face mask. If your player is going out for catcher, also bring catchers gear.

- PITCHERS AND CATCHERS MUST BE EVALUATED: Any player wanting to be considered a pitcher or catcher this season must be assessed (all divisions except T-Ball and Rookies).
- Prior Position Players moving up from the Rookies Division must be evaluated.
- All new Players to the league going into Mini-Minors, Minors or Majors Divisions must also be evaluated.

Players that fall into one of these categories who do not attend a skills assessment will not be placed on a team during the draft. Here are the dates and locations for the assessments.

Player Draft

BVGASA holds a blind draft to place the players on their teams. This season the draft will be conducted on January 25-26 (Updated). All drafted players will be notified shortly after the draft by their new managers.
