Sunday, July 11th, 2010. 4:10 p.m. 2010 States Update

The winning streak continues with the 10's as they beat Simi Valley 4 to 2! They have now secured a 3rd place finish as they take on Mission Viejo! They must defeat Mission Viejo in order for them to get to the final Championship Game vs WAGS. The Mission Viego game began at 3pm, stay tuned for that result.

Sunday, July 11th, 2010. 2:00 p.m. 2010 States Update

The 10's continue on their winning streak at Lancaster! With a win yesterday they qualify to play in Nationals in Tucson Arizona! Way to go team!

They beat Navajo this morning 8 to 1 and Claremont from LA 8 to 0. The team is now in the top 4 as they go up against Simi Valley, if they beat Simi Valley they will place at least 3rd in the tournament!

The 12's were unfortunately eliminated by Sierra Madre yesterday. Congratulations to them for an excellent season winning several tournaments, ending 3rd in Districts, and battling in States. Great job ladies and coaches for an excellent season, we are all proud of your accomplishments!

Bonita Valley is back in a winning streak in Lancaster! The 10's come back beating Colton 7 to 5, while the 12's win 8 to 2 against Diamond Girls!

Both teams went on to continue playing today, the 10's playing against Laguna Niguel and the 12's against Sierra Madre. Latest updates from the 10's show that they beat Laguna Niguel 2 to 1!

The 10's continue playing. No report from the 12's on the second game.

Unfortunately the 10's and 12's lost their first games this morning. The 10's lost 1 to 3 and the 12's lost 1 to 4.

Both teams play later today at 3pm, opponents to be determined.

Friday, July 9th, 2010. 4:00 p.m. 2010 States Update

Congratulation to the 10's and 12's as they both pick up their 1st win at Lancaster!

The 10's pick up their first win against Torrance coming back to tie the game in the last inning after being down 4 to 0. They come back to win the game 6 to 5 in one inning of International Tie Breaker. Great job team on battling back!

The 12's pick up their first win against Camarillo 5 to 0! Destini hits a home run in the first inning scoring Jaquelyn to take the early lead. Mallory pitches a great game shutting out Camarillo!

Both teams play tomorrow morning at 8am. The 10's will take on Navajo and the 12's take on Claremont from LA for the second game.

This week the 10's and 12's travel to Lancaster to participate in the State Championship Tournament in Lancaster California after they qualified in Districts. Wish them luck as they go compete against the best teams in the state!

Both teams will kick off their games this Friday at noon, the 10's will play against Torrance while the 12's will take on Camarillo.

    Monday, April 26th, 2010. 12:30 p.m. All Star 2010 Information

    Bonita Valley ASA softball will be conducting All-Star tryouts at Discovery Park on Sunday, May 2, 2010. Girls eligible for 14U and 12U will tryout at 9:00 A.M. at Discovery Fields 1, and 2, respectively. Check in at 8:30 A.M. Girls eligible for 10U and 8U will tryout at 1:00 P.M. at Discovery Fields 1 and 2, respectively. Check in at 12:30 P.M. The signed letter below MUST be brought to the tryout and turned in at check-in.

    GIRLS TRYING OUT CANNOT WEAR ALL STAR, TRAVEL BALL, OR ANOTHER LEAGUES UNIFORM. BV Rec Ball uniforms are the best option from this season or seasons past.

    All Star Letter and Rules - This document requires a signed copy to be turned in during tryout registration.

    This year, BV will hold one All-Star tryout on May 2nd to establish both the Gold and Silver all-star teams. Players who are not selected for a Gold team will be eligible/considered for a Silver team based on the tryout from May 2nd. All player assessments will be done on May 2nd.

    The Bullpen Baseball Academy is offering BV teams 1 hour of use of the NEW REGULATION SIZE TURF INFIELD and 2 Bullpens for live batting practice or pitching. Cost to BV teams is $75, regular price is $140.

    Due to the rain and resulting wet fields, the Players Clinic scheduled for tomorrow 2/24 for the Lower Divisions (T-Ball, Rookies, and Mini-Minors), will be rescheduled for 3/10.

    The Coaces Clinic will also be rescheduled for 3/10.

    The Player's clinic for Upper Division (Minors and Majors) will still occur as planned on 3/3.

    This year Melissa Owens will be hosting our mandatory managers / coaches clinic. The topic for the clinic will be pitching.

    About Melissa
    Melissa Owens was a five-time all-star pitcher/shortstop at Santee ASA. She was the first Santee ASA player to receive a full-ride D1 softball scholarship (SDSU). At Christian High, she won 2 CIF Championships and was twice named D-IV, CIF Pitcher of the Year. Many of her high school pitching (and batting) statistics rank among the top-ten, all-time CIF records (career/season strikeouts, career homeruns, etc.). As a 2-time All-State athlete, her CIF records were accomplished while competing in San Diegos softball Mecca, the Eastern League, competing against notable athletes such as Lisa Dodd (UCLA) and Donna Kerr (UCLA).

    At SDSU, Melissa was 3-time Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week, and 2-Time San Diego Hall of Champions Star of the Month, receiving one of her awards with co-recipient Jake Peavy preceding a Padre game at Petco Park. In 2007, Melissa was named SDSU’s Defensive Player of the Year, and was a member of the All-Mountain West Conference, First Team. She was the only player in the history of the Mountain West Conference to have an ERA less than 1.0 and a batting average over .400, simultaneously. Her former SDSU softball coach wrote, “Melissa is a big, powerful player who is one of the best athletes to ever come to SDSU.” She is currently an assistant softball coach at Southwestern Community College.

    Wouldn't it be nice to see know via text message the instant the decision has been made that a field can't be used, game cancelled, or all games are not being played? Well now you can be notified by signing up for text notifications. Simply enter your information, and wait for a confirmation text. Enter the code that you received on your phone on to the form and you're set! Please note that some text messages may take a little longer than others to arrive to your device so please submit once. You assume all text message charges involved with signing up.

    Thursday, January 28th, 2010. 10:53 a.m. Teams Forming & Opening Ceremonies Info!

    Registration for the 2010 recreation season is closed. We had another successful registration and over 700 girls signed up and players should be getting a call from their manager no later than Feb 1st. Opening ceremonies are on Feb 13th 9:00 a.m. at Discovery Park. We do ask that teams arrive by 8:30 a.m. as parking is very congested. DO NOT park in the bike lanes as you may receive a parking citation from the Chula Vista Police Department.
