Hey all-star teams! If your team is interested in using our live game feature then let me know. Either way, I need uniform #'s for each of the team players so I can make some updates.

The general membership has voted and the board has approved the 2009 Board. The newly elected members will officially take office on 1 Sept 2008. Congrats!

The All-Star tournament schedule has been posted and I've included a video that you may have already seen but it's still noteworthy on the miscellaneous page! And for those that like polls - the polls page :)

Bonita Valley Girls Softball gives out a shoutout to all our softball moms!

How many of you moms can relate to this?

Congrats to the Big Red Dawgs for coming in first place (Majors) with a come from behind victory 10-9 over the Smashing Pumpkins. The Red Big Dawgs came in as favorites but the Smashing Pumpkins gave them a run for their money and almost forced an "IF" game. Overall a good game with everyone on their seats in this shootout!

In the Minor Division Championship it was #1 versus #2. Icy Hot had bested Mass Confusion in their previous two encounters and so they had the slight edge. Icy Hot took the early lead and held on to win 4-1 over Mass Confusion.

The Mini-Minor Championship was held on Kohl Field for the first time as a result of the field closure on field #2 but that didn't stop the Blue Mustangs from overtaking the Yellow Jackets, 10-6. The loudest cheering group of the three championship games, you could tell that it was a hard fought game!

You can see the final order of finish while the photos for the championship games come in. :) btw, you guys set a record: 4,400 views of the tournament page during the league tournament, talk about following your teams!

Closing Ceremonies will be at Discovery Park tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. We'll be presenting trophys to 3rd place finishers in the league tournament (1st & 2nd after their games in the afternoon), handing out yearbooks to the girls that show up, medals, saying goodbye to friends, presenting all-stars, acknowledging sponsors, having a yearbook signing (don't forget a pen), 2009 board elections...a lot of stuff!!! BE THERE!

Don't forget that the Major, Minor, Mini-Minor Championships are at 11:00 a.m. Arrive early as parking very limited...

Anyone interested in managing a Silver 8U, 10U or 12U team needs to submit their name to Kelly, asap. Interviews will be conducted tonight if possible or tomorrow.

Silver All-Star tryouts will be this Wednesday, May 7th, for the 8U, 10U, and 12U. Check-in at 5:30 p.m. and the tryouts begin promptly at 6:00 p.m., provided we have a manager for the division. Only girls that tried out for the Gold team and weren't selected are eligible to participate. Girls are to wear their current team uniform - no all-star attire. And finally, please bring your completed All-Star Rules and Polices Letter to the check-in.

2008 Gold All-Star selections can be viewed on the All-Stars. Silver selections will be posted Wednesday night after all the girls that made their teams are notified by their manager!

Are you interested in volunteering for a position on the 2009 BVGASA Board. All positions are up for election. To be considered for a position please send an e-mail to nominations no later than May 3rd.

Elections will be held after closing ceremonies on May 10th, and keep in mind that the volunteers YOU elect will shape the league so don't forget to vote!

A reminder that there will be another photo make up day for individual poses only at Discovery Park on Friday, 4:30 p.m. SHARP in the West Parking lot. Look for the PBM Banner.

Gold All-Star try-outs will be this Sunday. Every player trying out must have a completed All-Star Rules and Polices Letter turned in at the time of check-in. Players are to wear their current team uniforms and no All-Star or travel ball attire shall be worn.

The play-offs start tomorrow at Discovery for the Mini-Minor, Minor, and Major divisions. Come out and check out the games as I'm sure the competition will be stepped up just a notch. As always, remember that this is a learning experience and that we want to make sure everyone enjoys a good game. Parents and spectators are encouraged to focus on the positive and have fun - it's play-off time!!!

BV Softball and The Bullpen are hosting a FREE Catching Clinic at Discovery on April 27th. Sign up at the snackbar. The clinic is only open to girls currently registered at BV.

The tournement schedule has been posted on the tournaments page...They are not official until all the games in the Major, Minor, and Mini-Minor divisions have been complete! They have been posted to give you an idea in how to plan your remaining time for the season. :)

Teams are reminded that they have until Saturday, April 12th, to submit their list of photo numbers (20 max ie 20080329002, 2008032914, etc.) they want used in the yearbook. They can either be photos that I have taken, you have taken, or a combination thereof. If you have photos then please e-mail them in. Each team will have 20 photos on their page, including their team photo.

Teams that I have scheduled after the 8th of April have a deadline of April 19th.

If the requested info is not submitted by the stated deadline then 20 photos will be picked at random from the those that I have taken. So far, only three teams have sent in their list.

We're offering something new this year with the yearbook: "BV Pride Lines!" For only $5.00 you can have your message listed in the yearbook. Simply fill out the form and turn it in with your payment at the snackbar. If we can't read your writing then it won't be included, so please print NEATLY! The deadline to submit is April 19th.

BV Softball and The Bullpen are hosting a FREE Pitching Clinic at Discovery on April 13th and April 27th. Sign up at the snackbar. The clinic is only open to girls currently registered at BV.

T-Ball games scheduled for May 10th have been cancelled. Rookie games scheduled on May 3rd involving these teams: Dolphins, Heartbreakers, Meerkats, Lightning Bolts,Lucky Charms and Orange Thunder, have had their games moved to Eastlake West. Please see revised schedule for times.

The brackets for the league tournament will be posted when they're finalized, and approved. Mini-Minor brackets are based on a blind draw for seeding. Minor and Major seedings based on final standings on the Rec-Scores Page.

People keep asking how many people tried filling out the "April Fool's" form, so here it is: 255 went to the page with 155 trying to fill it out. Five people sent in screen prints of their form filled out, and about 10 people wrote in asking where the "submit" button was.

Yes, it was fun and I'm sure you won't fall for it next year! ;)

Yes, it's that time again. All-Star season is only one month away and we're looking for registered 2008 BV Managers or Coaches that are interested in being an All-Star Manager. Please read the BVGASA Bylaws pages 19/20 to see if you qualify. If so, then submit your resume to John Teller no later than Saturday, April 5th, 2008. Good Luck!

Picture Day is April 5th at both Discovery and Eastlake. Please review the schedule and be prepared BEFORE you show up to have your photos taken. It helps get you to your game on time! :)

If the teams that are going to the Padre Game on April 6th want to be part of the pre-game parade, they will need to wear their uniform shirts. More information to follow...

We are SOLD OUT. We sold the remaining tickets today.

We've started selling Padre tickets to the game on April 6th. It's Sunday day game versus the Dodgers. Hurry up and get yours set aside since we have very limited quantities. You can check quantities at the right.

We'd like to take this opportunity to say, "THANK YOU!" to Kerri Woods, Fay Edwards, Irene Corona, and Michelle Smith. They stepped up and answered the call for help at the snack bar when we most needed them. Without them, Yolanda Salcedo (our snack bar coordinator) could not take on this very time intensive position.

Of course, we have not forgotten all the parents that DO show up for their assigned snack bar duty. Yolanda along with all of us thank and appreciate that they took a little bit of time out of their busy schedules and came out and helped!

The snack bar schedule has changed for the rec season. We've eliminated the 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. shift on Saturday, and made a couple of changes in the T-Ball division.

Please note that there will be "Play-Off" snackbar schedule towards the end of the season after we have determined seedings in the league tournament.

As you may know, the lights down at Discovery went out last night during the 7:00 p.m games, so the city is trying to repair them in time for the games tonight at Discovery. With safety in mind, the status is pending for now. We should hear something around 3:00 p.m. and I'll change the status then. Thanks for your understanding.

The Player's Clinic has been POSTPONED until Sunday, March 2nd.

A determination as to whether games can be played tomorrow (Saturday, 23 Feb) will be made by 7:30 a.m. tomorrow and posted here on the website!

The player's clinic is this Sunday. Please click on the link for player's clinic under the UPCOMING EVENTS. Please arrive a little early to check-in. If you've changed your mind and now want to attend the clinic, you may do so on at the clinic. The price is $15.00.

The opening day ceremonies start at 9:30 a.m. sharp. Please arrive early as parking is very limited. The wait is finally over!!!

All fields used by Bonita Valley will be closed tomorrow (Friday). Managers are advised to respect this as they were hit hard today by rain and we'll have crews working tomorrow night and early on Saturday on all fields trying to get them in shape for games Saturday. Any activity on them could ruin those chances. If any of you are free tomorrow night after the uniform pick up please let the field coordinator know so that you can be placed on a field to work!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

Team uniforms will be available to be picked up by team managers on Friday between 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m at Discovery Park. They will be responsible for disbursing the uniforms to team members. If you have any questions contact your manager or team mom.

Please review the Final BVGASA Bylaws. They have been approved by our executive board, entire general board membership, and ASA. Our final step to enacting these bylaws is to get the approval by the general membership of the Bonita Valley Girls Amateur Softball Association (parents and legal guardians of registered players) at the conclusion of opening ceremonies on Feb 16th, via a vote.

There will be a team mom meeting this Wed. Feb 13th at Discovery @ 6:00pm. Team moms should register on-line prior to the meeting and bring a copy of their Driver's License and $5.00, for the background check.

We are little short on volunteers to help run the snackbar. Our entire league runs on volunteers, and we couldn't do it without you. If you're interested in helping out we'd really appreciate it. Please contact Yolanda@bvgasa.org.

We're having a photo caption contest that goes until Friday, 2/15/08 4:00 p.m. PST. Here's the deal: You get a FREE, 12x18 action photo of your player from the BV website (2008 Season), if we select your caption. Details: Our decision is final, think of a caption for this photo, and submit it to PhotoCaption01@bvgasa.org. Good luck! Mandatory Manager/Coaches (Mini-Minor and below) clinic has been postponed until next Monday 2/11/08 at 6:00 Pm at Southwestern College. Manager Booklets will be issued at this clinic. Major and Minor Manager Booklets will be issued at a confirmed time to be announced soon.

Equipment bag pickup will now take place tomorrow (2/4) at the Discovery Park snack bar at 6:00 Pm for all divisions except for the Majors.

Majors bag pick up will be at 6:30 Pm tomorrow (2/4) followed by a required meeting to discuss current scheduling. Major Managers should take the time to attend this meeting as many important issues will be addresses and decided.

All city and school fields are closed. As I hear from our Fields Coordinator - Armando, I'll post here in case your managers can't be reached. Armando will have the final say on field use as we move forward. Please be sure your managers use common sense when practicing and also please make sure they understand that a good hard rain on one day can and probably will result in field closures for several days even if it is sunny. Any manager found violating the closed field policy of the city could lose their practice fields for the balance of the season. While Armando will keep you all updated as to the fields being opened or closed, we'll post updates for you in the right column under field conditions along with a link.

The field crews for Bonita Valley make every effort to make our fields ready for play, taking the safety of our girls as the #1 criteria. Thanks for your understanding.

Any managers or coaches interested in managing/coaching an all-star team must attend the ACE Clinic (required by ASA). We have slots available for this clinic. Please contact John Teller (jt@bvgasa.org) for more information

Schedules are final and will be available tomorrow on the SCHEDULES PAGE so that you can customize to your hearts content. Actual names of the teams will be inserted into the schedule when Managers/Coaches send them in (hint, hint).

Managers will call to inform you about which team you're on. Some may take a little longer than others but if you've turned in your paperwork they have your contact information. T-Ball/Rookie families should be getting a call early next week.

We have a surprise guest for opening ceremonies on Feb 16th, 2008 at Discovery Park, plus vendors and other activities, and a new sweatshirt color (limited quantities - first come first served). Be there!

Due to the large number of late registrations, and paperwork drop-offs in the T-Ball/Rookie division, T-Ball and Rookie teams will be completed by late Monday, Feb 4th. Managers will be notified at this point and they in turn will contact the parents.

Managers/Coaches please show up at Bonita Vista High School Cafeteria - 6:45 p.m. sharp so that teams can be formed. Please check the date for your division. T-Ball, and Rookies do not have a meeting as their teams are formed at random. Once formed, team members will be notified by the manager.

If you haven't dropped off your information yet...please do so as teams start forming tomorrow!!!

The last drop-off for late registrations is tonight at Discovery from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If your player is new to the league and are registered in the Mini-Minor, Minor, and Major division, then your player must be assessed at this time also.

Southwestern College is hosting a pre-season clinic at Southwestern College Softball Field on Saturday, January 26th from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Read flyer for details. This clinic is not related to what you've paid for (clinic fee) in your registration which is on the 24th of Feb.

Certified helmets with facemasks and chinstraps are required for participation as a safety measure for the girls going forward. Bonita Valley has phased this requirement in slowly over the past several years; at first requiring all-star participants, and now requiring all recreation season players to do so also.

Managers were selected tonight by the manager selection committee and are being notified this evening. Managers in the Mini-Minors, Minors, and Majors are required to attend the team formation meetings for their respective divisions (Mini-Minors 1/22/08 Tue), (Minors 1/23/08 Wed), and (Majors 1/24/08 Thu) at Bonita Vista High School Cafeteria - 6:45 p.m. sharp!

Now that you've dropped off your papework, you ask, "What happens now?" The upper/lower coordinators,division coordinators, and bunch of other volunteers will use the next week to get ready for the team selection meetings (Mini-Minor, Minor, and Major Divisions) during the week of the 21st. The T-Ball, and Rookie teams are formed at random. After the teams have been formed, the manager will contact you regarding practices, schedules, etc...

We will have our final paperwork drop-off tomorrow at Discovery Park from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please have your paperwork ready:5 copies of your receipt, payment, and 1 original Birth Certificate to show as proof of age.

Player assessments are required for all players ages 9+ that are new to the league. Assessments start promptly at 1:00 p.m. at Discovery Park. Please bring your gear!

A free coaching clinic at: SDSU Aztec Athletic Center Auditorium is scheduled for Feb 5th, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You'll have to RSVP, so head over to free clinic for more information.

Please have your 5 copies of your registration receipt for each player, 1 original birth certificate to show as proof of age, payment. If you are paying by check, please make it out to Bonita Valley ASA. The address to the library is: 4375 Bonita Road

We are here and accepting registration drop-offs at Discovery park. Assessments have been postponed until next weekend.

We're over 50% of our enrollment for the girls, but we need those seeking to be Managers, Coaches, and Team Volunteers (anyone that will be on the field, or in the dugout with the girls) to fill-out the on-line form. You can do this by logging in, and clicking on the Manager/Coach link. For position click the appropriate selection (Manager, Coach, Team Mom, Score Keeper, etc). Without all of our volunteers, Bonita Valley wouldn't be as successful as it is. Thank You!

The first registration drop-off will be tonight at the Bonita Library, located at: 4375 Bonita Road. Times from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Please have the following ready when you show up to speed things up: 5 copies of your receipt, 1 Original Birth Certificate to show, and if paying by check make it out to Bonita Valley ASA.

The next drop-off is scheduled for Saturday. Rain is in the forecast for the weekend, so if the location changes we will post the information here as soon as possible.

Here's the deal! If you register in December, and you send an e-mail to 2008regcontest@bvgasa.org with your guess as to how many girls we will have registered at the end of January 31st, we'll waive one registration fee (oldest player) to whoever has the closet guess. Easy right? Mumbo Jumbo details: Deadline is December 31st,2007 to enter, only one selected, one entry per family, tie goes to the family that sent in the earlier e-mail, winner announced during opening day ceremonies, MUST be present to win, our decision is final. Good luck!

The 2008 recreation season begins on Feb 16th, 2008. (See Calendar), and we'll begin taking registration (Player/Manager/Coach/Volunteer) on-line beginning December 1st, 2007. The registration fees have been posted on the right column.

We are still in the early stages so bear with us. As dates, locations, and times are finalized, a flyer will be sent out to the schools regarding registration, and the same information will be posted on the BV website. We hope you're as excited about the upcoming season as we are! Check back regularly for more information...

Already? Yes, a new board has taken their spots and the first meeting is set for Thu, September 6th at Montevalle Recreation Center Room #1. We're getting ready to plan the 2008 season. The meetings are open to everyone, and you can meet the board. Hope to see you there. Until then, enjoy the holiday.

The final order of finish for our 12U Gold and 14U Gold at Nationals.

The 14U team had an article written about them by the local paper (The Record) in Stockton. Here's a printable version.

The 14's played Los Alamitos earlier in the day and came out ahead 3-1 late in the game to reach the finals. They then waited two hours to see who would face them in the Championship Game (Downey or Los Alamitos). Downey came out ahead 3-2 over Los Al, and the show was on.

In the Championship game Bonita Valley took an early 7-0 lead, and held off a late comeback rally by Downey to claim a well deserved 2007 National Championship with a 10-5 final score. Congrats to all the girls on a great season going undefeated! :)

The 12U Gold team season ends after a loss tonight to the Bakersfield Blast in the super late night 10:00 p.m. game, finishing 9th out of 50 teams! Good job!!!

The 14U Gold team advances to the semi-final game versus Los Alamitos tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Good Luck!

Bonita Valley 12U Gold (9-0) and 14U Gold (11-3) both win decisively to get their first pool game out of the way! The 12's play at 8:00 p.m (-1 hour here) and the 14's play at 1:45 p.m.

The 12U Gold and 14U Gold are off today to represent Bonita Valley at the National Championships. The 12's will be in Las Cruces and the 14's are headed up north to Stockton. If there is coverage at the locations, both teams will be doing play-by-play. Good Luck, Girls!

The girls won the first game of the day 4-2 against a travel club called "Drop Zone" and then lost a heart breaker to "Los Alamitos Gold" 1-0 in 7 innings to end up finishing in 4th place at the NSA Western World Series. Nice Job Girls!!!

Our Bonita Valley 12U Silver is competing in the NSA Nationals this week up in Stockton! They came in 3rd place in their pool play today and begin bracket play tomorrow at Noon versus "Bomb Squad," a Northern California team. Wish them luck!

BV 14's beat Scripps Ranch 8-0 in the Championship Game today to become State Champions. Scripps had just beaten Simi Valley and had to face BV again. The game started slow with BV taking a 2-0 lead, and then busting it open in the 4th inning getting 6 runs. Congrats to both teams on a great "Championship Sunday."

Congrats go to our 12U Silver team up in Rialto, Ca. They tied for 3rd and qualified for NSA Nationals up in Stockton. Play begins next Monday with the champion being decided by Friday.

Bonita Valley 14U Gold reaches the State Championship Game at 3:00 p.m. by beating Scripps Ranch in in an International Tie-Breaker (ITB) 3-1. Bonita held a 1-0 until the 6th inning when Scripps scored the tieing run. In ITB Bonita scored 2 runs to take the lead 3-1 and Scripps was unable to answer when their base runners got doubled up.

Bonita Valley 12U Gold defeated Peninsula 6-2 and qualified for Nationals! They next faced La Mirada and lost a close one 2-1 to end the comeback.

The 14U Gold team faced Escondido Extreme and jumped out to 6-0 lead and ended up winning 8-0 in 5 innings! Semi-Final game tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. against Scripps Ranch and if they win go to the Championship game at 3:00 p.m

12U Gold Beats Vista 5-3, and is now facing Peninsula (BV leads)...If they win this one AND the next game (8:15pm Start, games running late), then they qualify for Nationals!!!

Our Bonita Valley 10U Gold lost today 5-11 versus WAGS and were eliminated from Bracket play. The 12U Gold team rallied from behind in the final inning to win 3-2 versus Laguna Niguel and are now playing Vista (BV leads 3-1). The 14U Gold play at 8:15pm (Quarter Final)

The 10U Gold opened up play this morning by beating La Mirada 3-2, next game: 1:15 p.m. The 12U Gold lost a close one 2-3 to La Mirada and have a long battle ahead of them, next game: Sat, 9:45 a.m. The 14U Gold advances by defeating Los Alamitos 5-0, Next Game: 3:00 p.m. The 12U Bronze team lost their first game 3-5 to Temecula Silver, and tied Rancho Bernardo Silver! Good Job Girls.

Both 10U Gold and 14U Gold games will be "broadcast" live.

Good Luck to our 10U Gold, 12U Gold and 14U Gold as they try to qualify for Nationals this weekend. The three teams start play Friday morning in their double-elimination tournament in Lancaster. Also, best wishes to he 12U Silver team competing in Rialto in their National Qualifer. The Bonita Valley 10U Silver and 12U Gold started off play today at PQ. The 10U-S played Poway and lost 10-4, while the 12U-G team defeated Rancho Bernardo 10-6! The rest of the BV teams play tomorrow at PQ and San Clemente. Good Luck Girls!!!

We are pleased to announce that Bonita Valley has completed the sanction process with NSA and the 12U Silver Team All-Star team will pursue the goal of qualifying for the NSA World Series Championships to be held in Stockton. They have been entered in the qualifier in Indio (June 16th & 17th) and State Tournament in Barstow (July 6th, 7th, and 8th). This experience should be a challenging and enjoyable time for the girls. Good Luck 12U Silver on qualifying for the World Series!

The board has approved the formation of a Bronze 12U All-Star Team for this year. Brian Cox has been approved to head this team.

We plan on taking photos at the championship games but I can't be at all three games at once. I (Sam) will be shooting the majors, Tony has volunteered to shoot the mini-minors, but we need someone to help out and shoot the Minors! Let me know!

We are accepting board nominations for the 2008 Season which runs from September 2007 through August 2008. The election will be held on May 12th, 2007. If you're interested in running for one of the positions please send an e-mail to: nominate@bvgasa.org stating the desired position. Good Luck!

But we have open fields at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM and can take advantage of them by rearranging the schedule if it is determined that things will dry out by a 1:00 PM start on all fields. John Carlson could bring a 14U National title back to Bonita this his final year at Bonita Valley; that would make four National titles. Mary Lou Flippen is attempting to defend the 12U National Championship that was earned in Texas last year by Carlson. In the 10U division either Sal Silva or Victor Mojica will try to regain a 10U National title that Bonita last held in 2004, and last but not least Fernando Idiaquez will lead the Bonita Valley 8U team in a quest to regain the District title and maybe even make an appearance at State.

All managers election results require board approval before being "Official."

We were able to get 250 more Padre tickets. They will be available for purchase on Wednesday, April 11th, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the snackbar. There will be no additional tickets after these are gone!!!

A member (Traci A.) of En Fuego’s team broke her leg in three places on Saturday night while playing the BV Benchwarmers. She left the fields in an ambulance. She's home from the hospital after surgery on Sunday that was needed to insert three screws in her leg. She is in very high spirits but needs to stay at home for several weeks before she can get a hard cast put on her leg and she is bummed about missing school and softball. We just wanted to let everyone know that she is doing fine and can’t wait to get back to the fields. We are very proud of the way she handled herself for what must have seemed like forever while waiting for the ambulance. She showed more poise and character then the adults that where huddled around her...She's a tough kid!!!

Team moms and other team volunteers, if you haven't already done so, you must complete a background check form on-line. You can do this by logging in to your account, and clicking on the manager/coach link. Fill out the form selecting the role that you will be performing on the team. All information must be filled out!

After completing the form, you'll receive an email with your link. Print out the form, sign, date and attach a photocopy of your driver's license to the form along with $4.00. The Team Mom meeting will be held at Discovery Park, Saturday February 10th at 9:00 a.m., that you will turn-in your paperwork

The background check is required by ASA to help protect our children. Thank you for your understanding.

We start accepting player/coaching registrations online beginning on Friday, Dec 1st. If you're paying by check or cash, then you may pay when you drop off your registration items at Discovery on one of the days mentioned below.

We've been getting a lot of requests for information on the 2007 recreation season. So, here it is:

NEW For the 2007 Season
If a player signs up for the 2007 Bonita Valley Softball Recreation Season and then makes a NON-VARSITY High School team, they're eligible to return to the BV Softball Rec team and be eligible for All-Star play, IF they have not been issued a refund.

• On-line registration is REQUIRED for all players.
• There will be no mail-in registration.
• Payment (VISA, Mastercard, Discover, AMEX, Electronic Check) will be taken on-line.
• Registration Paperwork (Birth Certificates, 5 copies of COMPLETED Forms) must be presented in person at Discovery Park.
• Player Assessments for NEW incoming players to Bonita Valley Softball.

The Registration Dates and Fees*(Rookie, Mini-Minor, Minor, and Major) are as follows:

• 12/1/06 through 12/15/06. -- $75.00 On-line
• 12/16/06 through 1/05/07. -- $85.00 On-line
• After 1/05/07. -- $100.00 On-line or in person at TBD

Oldest Player pays regular fee, then second player pays $30.00 *Players in the T-BALL Division have a registration Fee of $45.00. and the third player is FREE. Get a sponsor to donate a minimum of $250.00 and your oldest player plays for FREE.

After each player has been registered on-line, the paperwork (5 copies of completed) forms and birth certificates must be turned in, in-person at Discovery Park on one of the following dates from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:

• Sat, 1/06/07. Skill Assessments New Players to League (Mini-Minor, Minor and Majors)
• Sun, 1/07/07.
• Sat, 1/13/07. Skill Assessments New Players to League (Mini-Minor, Minor and Majors)

For those that haven't registered on-line by 1/5/07, you can register at Discovery Park on any one of the three dates (1/6, 1/7, 1/13)

Those that entered a valid/working e-mail address last year will get a reminder e-mail as the first registration date nears with complete details about how to fill-out the on-line registration. Also, the 2007 Handbook will be available on-line as soon as it is ready.

Coaches can apply on-line beginning Dec 1st - There is $4.00 charge for background checks.

Hey Board Members and those interested in following Bonita Valley Softball! Our next meeting is scheduled for November 8th, 2006 at Bonita Vista High School. Start time is 7:00 p.m. sharp in room #405 in the middle of the campus. We hope to keep meetings to about one hour :) Park in gym parking lot. See ya there!

Bonita Valley 10U Take 3rd Place at Nationals in St. Louis!!!

Bonita Valley 12U are the 2006 National Champions defeating WAGS twice 2-1, 7-3 in the Championship Game.

Double Elimination Bracket Play begins today and we're ready!! Both teams thank you for the support you have given by "watching" the games and reading the blogs on-line. BTW, your guestbook entries have been received but I'm unable to process them until I get back. If you want to send a e-mail greeting, I'll post it. -- Sam!

Looks like both the 10's & 12's are going to start pool play tomorrow. Check the blogs for daily updates. If there reception at the fields then you can watch the play-by-play. :)

Our 10 and 12 teams arrived safely at their destinations and are un-packed and ready to roll! I've put links at the top of this page so that you can follow the daily blog for the teams if they report!

The 10U and 12U head off to Nationals in a couple of days. The 10's head off to St. Louis and the 12's go to Midland, Texas. Girls, do your best and remember that you're representing Bonita Valley.

We will be doing play-by-play for both the 10 and 12 teams if we get broadband reception at the fields. Just click on the link on the right under the column heading for 10U, or 12U. If possible, we will also be showing little video highlights.

Going into the final week for their season, our 10T and 12T went up to represent Bonita Valley up in the N. Torrance tournament and here's how they did...

The 10T faced Cypress early in pool play and barely edged them 3-2. They turned it up a notch and beat the next three teams (Simi, Santa Ana, and the host H. Torrance) to make it back into another Championship Game versus Cypress. Motivated by their earlier pool game, BV 10T came out on top 15-4. Good Job and awesome season!

BV finished in 3rd place with losses only to Laguna Niguel A (who is going to Nationals and beat our A team in Poway) and Downey A who made it to State Torunament. In the North Torrance game, BV scored 7 in the last inning to fight back and win against the host team and keep its season alive and make it to semi-finals versus Downey's tough A team. BV had a back and forth game against Downey right down to our last out but came up just short of making it to the finals. The girls earned some very nice medals which was a great way to wrap up our season.

The girls had a great season and made it to Sunday and the brackets in all 9 tournaments they played. Thanks for all your hard work girls and for never giving up. You played amazing this sumnmer.

Our 10T and 12T teams are heading up to North Torrance for their final tournament of the season. Let's wish them luck up there! Here's a link to their games this weekend. 10T/12T Schedule

The Murrieta tournament held over this weekend reached over 100 degrees. We sent four teams; for two teams this would be their final tournament 8U/14U. The remaining two - 10U and 12U would get a taste of the heat that they would be experiencing in Midland/St. Louis.

The 8U team had a resurgence since Districts reaching the Championship game in each of their remaining tournaments. In the finals BV faced Menifee and trailed early but weren't able to get back into the groove. The finished 2nd!

Our 10U team had an interesting game situation - trying to play in near darkness in pool play versus Hart (3rd Place State). The game was called in the 3rd inning for safety reasons (Hart won 10-7). BV faced them again in the semi-finals and lost 2-5. Chances are good that they might face each other again in St. Louis. Overall finish in Murrieta 3rd.

Looks like our 10T team out in Downey had a marathon game this weekend (3 hours or so and going ITB). As many may not be aware, our Silver teams have been playing in many Gold division tournaments. They have taken 1st place, a 2nd place and this weekend in Downey battled their way into the Championship game finishing with a 2nd place trophy! Awesome Job, girls!

The 12U team finished 1st in pool play and played three games on Sunday to reach the Championship game versus Poway "B" a.k.a. Poway Emeralds. BV won 16-0 to take the 1st place trophy. The Poway girls had fun despite the outcome and were particularly fascinated by "Barbie." :)
Of note this tourney, "Adri" and Celina pitched for the 1st time this tournament. We were missing a couple of our pitchers and they joined "Mommies" to round out our pitching staff this weekend from their regular positions. Heather was catcher for a couple of innings and Ariel switched out with Jaycee for a stint and Anissa was positioned at 3rd. Just goes to show what a group of talented girls we have at Bonita.

Our 14's showed that they could come back and win when they were down 3-1 late in the Murrrieta Game. They won 4-3 and then faced a team that had blanked them out in their three last games - Poway Diamonds.
BV jumped on top early and held to win 3-1. In the Championship the 14's played and won 8-1 over Valley Wide to end the season with a 1st place win!

Good job to all our teams for doing a great job(2nd, 3rd, 1st, 1st) in the heat this weekend and the parents for keeping them as cool as possible!

Today was championship Sunday for both the 10U and 12U teams. They both went undefeated to win it all!

The 10's faced Hart Gold in the semi-finals and defeated them 3-1 to advance to the championship game. South Hungington Beach came out from the loser's bracket to play Bonita Valley and lost 5-0. Bonita Valley 10U "B" State Champions. They will be off to St. Louis, Missouri (7/31-8/6) to compete in the the Western "B" 10U National Championship Tournament!

The 12's played Peninsula, a team they faced in the District Championship and Bonita Valley prevailed 5-0 to headed to the championship game. PQ came out of the loser's bracket and it seemed like old times with a common adversary. The 12's defeated them 15-4 to win the championship. Bonita Valley 12U "B" State Champions. The 12's will be going to Midland, Texas (7/31-8/6) to compete in the the Western "B" 12U National Championship Tournament!

Bonita Valley's 8U team made it to the Championship game at Rancho Bernardo by beating RB 3-0. In the Championship Game, they met up against a tough Simi Valley team. BV 8U finished 2nd with a score of 3-5. Congrats 8U!

Our 12T beat a tough Simi Valley Gold team (9-7) in 3 ITBs to finish 3rd in the Rancho Bernardo Tourney. Great Job, 12T!!!

Congrats to both the 10U and 12U for qualifying for Nationals today! They are still alive in the winner's bracket and are one game from the championship game. The 14U team came one game short of qualifying for Nationals after their loss to WAGS 4-1. Their overall finish was 10th.

Many games are running behind schedule.

The 14U lost their opening game 0-2, to Poway. They play 4 games tomorrow starting with (Vista at 9:45am). BV 12's (see play-by-play) opened play by getting two runs in the 7th to win over PYL. Next game at 3:00pm versus Chino Hills. The 10's play at 1:15pm -v- West Garden Grove and you can watch the play-by-play. See link at right.

The 10's won their second game versus West Garden Grove, 3-0 and play Chino Hills tomorrow at 1:15pm. The 12's beat Chino Hills today by the score of 13-5 to advance. They play the winner of the South Huntington Beach versus Murrietta at 3:00pm.

The girls were at the opening ceremonies tonight at 6:00pm and now have the rest of the day to rest up for the Saturday games.

Bonita Valley took three teams into the Championship today on the 4th of July! The day started off with the 8U team facing Vista. The 8U team were close all the way but couldn't pull it off and lost 2-1. The 10U team faced a common rival again - Santee. They've met in the Championship game FOUR times. Each time, a very close game and this was close also. But in the end, BV prevailed 2-0. In the 12U game, BV faced WAGS and both teams held each other scoreless for 3 innings, until Bonita got on a roll and scored 5 runs to win the game in the middle innings. Good Job, Bonita!

We tried out something new this weekend - VIDEO. Although it was only a test to see how things would work, we had 74 visitors watch the first day (Monday vs Peninsula), and 24 watch the championship game (12U vs WAGS). I appreciate all the constructive feedback! Overall, a successful test :)

Bonita Valley Girls Softball is hosting the 2006 South San Diego "B" District Championships and welcomes the following teams: East County, Imperial Valley, Lakeside, Navajo, Peninsula, Santee, and Scripps Ranch. They, along with Bonita Valley will be competing for a berth to the State Championships in July. Good luck girls!

The brackets/scores will be updated nightly after the final games for the day. You can check the RECENT RESULTS or download the latest brackets on the downloads page.

Some District games involving Bonita Valley may be updated live on the web by clicking on the division link on the right.

Please remember to take your FLYERS for your fundraisers with you to the restaurants when you order. This is the only way that your team will get credit for your purchase.

Teams can view their runathon totals on the SCORES page. Select your team and your total will appear along with your game scores.

Bonita Valley had all four teams in the semi-finals and two made it to the finals (10U and 12U). The 10U team took its fourth straight 1st place trophy by taking out the host Poway(7-6) and then Santee in ITB (6-5). Santee will be at District next week.

Congrats to our 10T team for taking 2nd place at the University City tournament in the Gold division.

The 12U team faced Poway in the semis and advanced to the finals after winning 3-1. BV took out Laguna Niguel at Rancho last year (finals) and it appears as it was still stewing in their minds. They blasted out to a 7-1 lead but BV would not turn over and quit. The girls fought back and had several opportunities to take the lead but lost 7-5.

The 8U team started off slow in pool play but came back together and made it into the semis by beating Laguna Niguel 8-6. Poway took them out in the next game 6-1.

Our BV 14U team finished 2nd in pool play and faced Ramona but fended off the challenge 6-5. They lost to Scripps Ranch in the semis.

NEXT WEEK: District Championships (State Qualifier) hosted by Bonita Valley. Only the top three finishers in each division go on to the State Championships (National Qualifier).

Bonita Valley All-Stars are looking for high school students in need of community service hours that would like to work in our snack bar during the following hours:


Friday, June 23rd, 4:30 PM 8:30 PM

Saturday, June 24th, 8:00 AM 8:30 PM

Sunday, June 25th, 8:00 AM 3:00 PM

This will involve selling at our window, set-up and ongoing clean-up, preparing some food items, snow cone machine, etc.

Pick the times you would like to help. Even a two hour shift would be great. But please, if you commit, please show as we will be depending upon you. There will be adults supervising. We will not be staffing the snack bar with only students. We would love to have some of the siblings that helped us during the regular season, we had excellent help from many of them. If you need documentation of these service hours you will need to bring a form from your school or organization to be signed by one of the coordinators. We do not provide letters for proof of hours.

The 10U and 12U went undefeated this weekend to bring home the 1st place hardware! The 10's beat HART in a close championship game (3rd consecutive championship) and the 12's held off West Grove to win 8-4.

Congrats to our 10U, 12U and 14U for reaching the PYL Tournament Championship Game. The 14U came in 2nd (6-8) to WAGS, 12's came in 2nd (3-4) to PYL but the 10's pulled off their second ITB in the tourney to beat PYL 6-2 in ITB. The 10U Tournament team took 1st place in Garden Grove by beating Garden Grove in the finals in ITB (6-5). Way to go, BV!!

Please reserve your hotel rooms in Lancaster for States ASAP - they go FAST. Details available through your team. We aren't jumping the gun, just making sure that if we make it that we have a place to stay :)

Lots of requests for Leagues in our district (South San Diego 'B'): Imperial Valley, Lakeside, Santee, Scripps Ranch, East County, Navajo, Peninsula, and Bonita Valley.

Bonita Valley 10U take 1st Place by beating Santee (our District) 3-1, and the 14U finish 1st with a score of 15-2 over Oceanside A.

Photos from the tournament should be up by Wednesday. I took over 1,000 photos (thanks Donna) and have to go through them all. Thanks for your patience :)

Bonita Valley Teams are 9-1 after two days of the PQ Tournament. Tomorrow the teams will finish up pool play and begin bracket play

The 12T/14T in the Clairemont Tournament will be reporting soon. They have already played two games each.

Our experiment with play-by-play went well with the final test done on the 12U Team games today. We got views on the game by 25 different computers. It will be available for use by all the BV teams. Thanks to Dave for helping me test...

If a team has a link under the upcoming events(look to the right), then that game will be available "live" on the website on gameday. We're still testing but should be working by Saturday.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers played the Dominators this evening and came out ahead 5-0 to win the Mini-Minor Championship!

The Green Gators came back from the Loser's bracket and defeated the Bonita Bruzers twice (7-4,7-1) to take the Minor Division Championship down at Discovery Field #2 in front of a packed crowd. Over at Field #1, the Poison Apples won a close game 3-2 to force the "IF-Game" and beat the 'Real Deal' 8-5 in a game that was decided in the last few minutes! Both teams played their hearts out - Great Job, Girls.

It looks like the 'Red Hot Chili Peppers' will be playing the 'The Dominators' for the Mini-Minor Division Championship tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. (Discovery #3)be sure to be there!

The snackbar will be closed Thursday and Friday (possible 'IF Game') Bring your own munchies :)

The Major Division Championship Game(s) will be today at 5:00 p.m. and maybe 7:00pm, between the Real Deal (13-5-3) and the Poison Apples (12-5-6)
The Bonita Bruzers (15-4-4) will go up against The Green Gators (18-2-3) tonight at 5:00 p.m. with the IF-Game at 7:00 p.m. for the Minor Division Championship
And finally the Mini-Minor Championship game with be Thursday at 5:00pm, Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. (Dominators, Shockers or Silver Bullets)

Closing Ceremonies will be Saturday at 9:00 am (Discovery Park). The rec division tournament winners will receive their trophies, All-Star/Tournament team introductions, awards, yearbooks, Final words, 2007 Board Elections (be sure to vote). Parking will be very limited please don't park in the bike lanes and obey signage (CVPD will issue citations)

Team Managers please return your softball equipment/gear at the time and location as specified by your Division Coordinator

The All-Star selections have been posted on the All-Star Page. Please remember that Birth Certificates are to be brought to your first meeting! If we don't get a Birth Certificate from you, you will not play.

We are accepting nominations for 10U, 12U, and 14U Tournament Managers. If you are interested please submit your name to Lance Christensen(lkdhchrist@cox.net), our All-Star Coordinator. Elections Thursday. Tournament Team Try-Outs this Sunday. Final details posted soon.

Again, Team #9 - The Flames, in the rookie division were a no-show for snackbar duty Friday, and the Sparkling Mermaids - TBALL on Saturday. When teams don't show up or don't send enough to staff the snackbar, we are unable to provide adequate service( no hot foods, slow service, long wait lines, etc...) The league tries to spread the burden on all the teams to help keep registration fees low. Please do your part by showing up!

The 12U All-Star Try-outs have been moved to BONITA VISTA High School at 1:00pm. Arrive at least 30 minutes earlier to check-in. All other try-outs are at Discovery Park as stated in the flyer.

The finalized brackets have been posted on the tournament page for viewing/downloading! The level of competition will be stepped up a little but please remember that this is recreationall ball and that the girls may make some mistakes while trying to apply the lessons they have learned all season - it happens. Have fun and enjoy a taste of tournament play. Oh, one last thing - Good Luck Girls!!!

The Padres lost to the Dodgers tonight at Petco Park (4-2) but we had fun watching and hanging out with our BV Family. The pictures will be up soon. See you at the fields!
